Rainbow Vision is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2021.

What is your cause?

Our purpose is to provide basic vision testing and new eyeglasses to those in underserved communities primarily to school age children in order to help them to see better and thereby increase their chances of success in school. We feel that it is important to supply new eyeglasses with the exact prescriptions that are needed rather than supplying used glasses that are only approximations of the needed prescriptions. We also offer adults with vision testing and new eyeglasses when needed.

What led to the formation of this organization, when did the organization begin operations, when will it be fully operational?

We realize that there is a large unmet need for vision services in certain communities and we believe that we can make a difference in improving the lives of others through our efforts. Our organization was formed in 2021 and is currently fully operational.

Who does the organization serve—who is eligible to receive the organization's services? Who determines eligibility?

Our organization serves underprivileged children and adults who may lack the financial resources to obtain eyecare services and eyeglasses. The board of directors will determine the eligibility of those who may receive aid.

Who will carry on the activities of the organization? Will these individuals be paid or volunteers, what are their qualifications?

Our organization consists of licensed eyecare professionals, technicians and volunteers who have the necessary experience, expertise and the desire to implement the goals of our organization.

When and how often do you offer your services?

We work with school officials and charitable organizations to organize vision screenings. We participate in several events throughout the year. Our first event successfully took place in early 2022 in the Dominican Republic where we set up vision screening events at schools and community centers for students with the help of qualified healthcare providers. New eyeglasses were then distributed to those who needed them. Since then we have participated with several organizations throughout the New York City area on several occasions and have helped many people.

How are you funded? Where is your money coming from? Where is your money going?

Our organization is funded through donations. All of the funds are used towards the essential operations of our non-profit organization such as vision testing supplies, eyeglass materials, and some personnel. None of the donations are used for administrative use. Donations of any amounts are gratefully accepted and also qualify as a tax deduction on your federal income taxes as we are a 501(c) non-profit organization.
